I have had a connection to and love for photography ever since I can remember. I grew up under the influence of my amateur- photographer mother who passed on her passion and talent to me.
When I was in middle school I got my first film camera; it was a simple point-and-shoot Vivitar and from that moment on I was always the one capturing the memories being made by my family and my close-knit group of friends.
Photography is so much more than that to me to me now. It is one of the things I love most in this world. Portraiture just seemed to be the natural fit for me as there is such a palpable connection between the subject, the camera and the audience. This is even more the case with candid and lifestyle portraits than traditional studio portraits. They feel more authentic and genuine and draw the audience in so much so that the audience feels as though they are a part of the scene rather than just viewers of a photograph.
I believe photography isn't just about capturing moments or "taking pictures". Photography in its best and purest form is making photographs of memories that those around you create. When I press the the shutter, I am freezing time; creating a physical/digital artifact that is a direct representation of an incredibly special and unique moment of your life. It is my extreme honor and pleasure to do so.
