Every summer I travel back to my home state of New Jersey for some family time at the beach. North Wildwood holds a special place in my heart. I spent many days of my childhood summers running along the beach, walking the boards and enjoying the rides the amusements piers have to offer. The beaches in North Wildwood are some of my favorite places not only to relax but also to do beach photo sessions. The tall sand dunes make for a great background for portraits as do the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
This session with Ava, Yaya & Tristan was a re-shoot from the day before. The original session was abruptly postponed in an effort to be off of the beach by the time Hurricane Elsa rolled in. However, that storm wound up being a blessing in disguise; had we gone through with the shoot on the first day, I wouldn't have gotten these amazing shots. Everything just lined up incredibly well when we were finally able to make the session happen. The kids were in a playful, fun mood, the lighting just before sunset was superb (better than it had been at all that week) and the vibe was just right. Below are the results of what I consider to be my most successful beach shoot to date.
